Artist Statement

My name is Lily Wang, and I am a sophomore at Blue Valley West High School. I've always loved looking at black and white pictures, as I feel like they showcase contrast really well. Especially if the emotion a photo is trying to convey is sadness. The black and white gradient values gives off a melancholy vibe. Photography I was the perfect opportunity for me to experience and gain some understanding of the processes that happen behind the scenes to make these beautiful black and white photos. My work primarily focuses on nature and natural elements. Flowers, trees, and wildlife are common themes in my photos. The alternative processes I've done add the occasional pop of color to the standard black and white prints.
